The existing building was a typical post war home on a sloping block, with an excavated carport and storage under the small 3 bedroom home. The home was protected from demolition with a Traditional Building Character overlay, as such the client opted for raising the building to build in under. As the architecture of the home was not strong and street appeal limited, the vision was to create a classic Hamptons styled home while minimising excavation, working with the slope of the land as much as possible. The mid level entry leads up to the original (but extended) house, with a sitting room overlooking the living room below via a large void, the master suite with balconette overlooking the pool, and two children’s bedrooms (each with walk in robe) are also on the upper level. Downstairs we have the guest bedroom, a study and the very generous main living area that leads out to the deck and pool.
