Engineering and Building Approval
The next step was to send the completed plans off to the structural engineer and certifier for quotes. We have forged strong relationships with all the relevant consultants that could be required for a project, in this case though, it was just the engineer and certifier that we needed. NBR Australia was chosen for the engineering, working on the structural design, following through the philosophy formed during the design stage and keeping things as cost effective as possible, a challenge made somewhat more difficult by the poor soil classification. After a few minor delays and working closely with Nicolas, the final engineering plans were issued on the 29th of July 2014.
The building approval is being assessed by Building Certification Consultants, UDS has been working closely with Seth and the team to ensure the design meets council’s constraints on the site, with the engineering now complete as well as the energy efficiency report, we are now just waiting on Wes and Regina to decide on a builder (owner builder is also an option), then the building approval will be issued and construction can start. Then the fun will begin!
